New Collections
It’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to bridal shows where, of course, we find many of our new designers and renew old friendships with existing ones. It is always interesting to see how new trends are developing – sleeves for next season are a certainty with the idea of ‘separates’ gaining momentum. After all, how many times have you, as the bride, fallen in love with the top of one dress and the skirt of another? Now you can mix and match to your heart’s content because many of our designers are turning to this as a design option and we anticipate it will be very popular for next season. Watch this space….
The other trend for 2016/17 is colour. Blush, champagne, pale pinks and silvers all dominated the new collections at the spring bridal shows.
London hasn’t cornered the market in Bridal Shows although, of course, many of our most beloved and respected of designers are there with their latest collections. However, Barcelona is up there with the best of them and Novia d’Art, one of our Spanish designers, will be showing their entire 2016 and 2017 collections there at the end of April and we will be there hoping to enlarge our existing collection.
This designer has long been a favourite of ours with elegant but subtley different gowns so reminiscent of the Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly era many like ‘Celia’ which has a clever detachable train enabling you to turn your wedding dress into something less formal for the evening reception. Some of Novia d’Art’s dresses overtly embrace simplicity through the cut of the dress and the choice of fabric allowing a lot of room for manoeuvre with the choice of veils, headpieces and the odd piece of heirloom jewellery which every bride hopes will be hers to wear on her wedding day.
We can’t wait to see what surprises Novia d’Art have waiting for us in Barcelona. We’ll report back as soon as we have had a peak at what’s in store for 2017!
